Matt’s pest control journey started on the home front of his Georgia roots as he watched his grandfather, James Rider of Rider Pest Control, solve people’s pest problems. Pest control is in Matt’s DNA. He started learning everything he could from his grandfather, beginning at an early age.

In 1995, Matt started doing everything from treating homes for termites to servicing a commercial kitchen for roaches and rodents. He learned the business from A-Z and soaked up every training class available. His hard work paid off in spades when his retiring grandfather appointed him Rider Operations Manager in 1998, a position he held until joining Liphatech in 2016.

In his role, Matt once again demonstrated the power of his dedication and natural pest control business ability. He doubled the size of his territory in five years and, as a result, was promoted to National Sales Manager and then Business Manager.

Though Matt has risen high in the pest control industry, he never forgets his past as a pest technician and uses his earliest experiences to inform through his leadership. His grandfather’s legacy of solving pest problems continues to drive him as he works to build the future of Liphatech.

Matt oversees Liphatech’s pest management sales and marketing teams. With nearly 30 years of personal pest control experience, Matt is humbled when opportunities to revisit his roots as a pest technician allow him to help PMPs solve their customers’ pest problems. However, his overall focus is to help those same PMPs navigate the changes in the industry with the best experts and a diverse product line.

Matt’s lifelong passion for pest control is accompanied by a lifelong passion for all sports. He loves his local sports teams – Braves, Hawks, Falcons and the University of Georgia – Go Dawgs! Matt stays competitive by playing regular tennis with his local Atlanta Lawn & Tennis Association team, after retiring from 20 years of competitive softball! Though he is no longer working for the family business, family is still paramount in Matt’s life. He loves spending time with his wife, Rhonda; their three children and two granddaughters.
