EPA-Labeled IGI CO₂ is Alternative Breakthrough in Rodent Control; Eliminates Secondary Exposure Risk
Liphatech Inc., a leader in rodent control products for more than 70 years, announces its purchase of all assets of Inert Gas Injection (IGI), LLC. IGI assets include its U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-labeled carbon dioxide (CO₂) along with the Eliminator™ Application Probe that together form a rodent control system for pest management professionals (PMPs) without the risk of secondary poisoning.
Currently named IGI Carbon Dioxide™ (IGI CO₂), the system, which must be used only with the Eliminator, is specially designed to kill burrowing rodents such as rats, ground squirrels and pocket gophers, where they live. IGI CO₂ powered by Liphatech provides PMPs and rodent control professionals with an EPA-registered, alternative pesticide for controlling burrowing rodents, particularly where secondary exposure is possible. IGI CO₂ is also approved for commodity fumigation of silos, storages, trucks, trailers, sealed railroad cars and cargo ships, and can also be used in organic fumigations.
“Liphatech’s acquisition of IGI, LLC, IGI CO₂, and the Eliminator, allows us to continue to offer cutting edge solutions to PMPs that are different from other rodent control alternatives,” said Manny Martinez, CEO of Liphatech.
A major advantage of IGI CO₂ powered by Liphatech is that when it’s applied in confined spaces in accordance with the label instructions, such as in rodent burrows, it poses no danger to rodent predators that might consume the dead rodents later.
“The pest control industry is under constant review and scrutiny. Liphatech’s goal is to stay ahead of the changes; that is, to provide PMPs with the innovative tools they need to control rodents and other pests – while significantly reducing the risk to non-target animals,” said Charlie Passantino, structural pest control business director at Liphatech. “IGI CO₂ powered by Liphatech is effective against the species listed on the label and is a compelling option for PMPs looking for alternative methods for controlling rodents.”
IGI CO₂ is colorless, odorless, tasteless and since it’s heavier than air, it quickly forces oxygen out of rodent burrows, asphyxiating occupants of a burrow.
“Liphatech has developed three of the rodent control industry’s active ingredients: chlorophacinone, bromadiolone and difethialone. We have always strived to provide PMPs with innovative and safe solutions for the rodent control needs of their customers. IGI CO₂ continues that tradition,” added Passantino.
